National Health Foundation (NHF) was established in 1995, named as “Nepal AIDS Prevention Institute (NAPI)” to work in specific area of HIV and AIDS. Its name was revised and expanded its activities into wide areas of health services on curative, promotive and rehabilitative including Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The revised name was registered as “National Health Foundation (NHF)” under Public Law Body (PLB) at Chief District Office (CDO) of Kavreplanchowk (Kavre), Ministry of Home (MOH) in the recommendation of Department of Health Services (DoHS) of Nepal and affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC) of Nepal in 1997. NHF is committed to conduct health related projects, training programs, community development and research activities.

National Health Foundation (NHF) develops health related technical and financial proposals in need-based problems/issues and applies to respective donor/s in the initiation of its consortium member organizations and volunteers for funding. At the district level, the approved projects are implemented by the NHF Branches and local level consortium members in coordination with District/Public Health Office (D/PHO)/Reproductive Health Coordination Committee (RHCC) and District Development Committee (DDC) as well as related Village Development Committees (VDCs)/Municipalities aimed at enhancing accessibility of integrated healthcare programs as comprehensive package related to services and research activities by mobilizing available resources in selected districts of Nepal. NHF has established the central office in Kathamndu for management of resources and run District Branches at local level in 10 districts (Achham, Bajhang, Darchulla, Kailai, Bardiya, Banke, Rukum, Rolpa, Dhading and Kavre) for implementation of the project activities.

National Health Foundation (NHF) intends to establish itself as a promoter of excellence in community development.

Carryout the projects to community development with promoting partnership in all its initiatives.

Provide support to Government of Nepal (GoN) to achieve the national goal, “Health for all”.

  • To update information and knowledge on health related issues by undertaking operational researches and health related relevant research activities in Nepal
  • To produce skilled health manpower through implementation of training programs in collaboration with public and private institutions in selected districts of Nepal
  • To prevent transmission of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) including Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) as well as promote Reproductive Health and Rights (RHR) in selected districts of Nepal
  • To enable environment for vulnerable populations in the community development and protect Human Rights (HR) related to violence and torture in selected districts of Nepal.
  • To enhance accessibly of preventive, curative, promotive, and rehabilitative health services for service seeking people in selected districts of Nepal.

  • Operational Research Activities (ORA) in selected districts of Nepal
  • Technical Education and Vocational Trainings (TEVT) among girls, women and youth populations for strengthening the capacities of health manpower in Kavre and Bardiya Districts of Nepal
  • Radio Listening Program (RLP) among migrants, potential migrants and their families for creating awareness to access the services on prevention, treatment and care & support of HIV and STIs in Achham, Nepal
  • Stigma and Discrimination Reduction Intervention (SDR) among health and community settings to access the PMTCT services for accessing of HIV infected and affected populations in Achham, Nepal
  • Integrated Volunteer Counseling & Confidential Testing/ Sexually Transmitted Infections (VCCT/STI) services among migrants, men and women to access comprehensive package for prevention, treatment and care & support of HIV and AIDS in Kavre, Nepal.
  • Delivering Comprehensive Services on Gender-base Violence (DCS-GBV) among girls, women and men for prevention and torture management by integrating with existing VCCT/STI sites
